Opportunity Description:
Casa Grande Ruins National Monument is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic couple who enjoy the outdoors, interacting with visitors, sharing knowledge with others, helping to protect 700 year old dwellings, and interpreting the Hohokam culture and the diverse and rich Sonoran desert environment. As volunteers at Casa Grande you will: *Work the visitor center to greet visitors, collect entrance fees, sell educational materials, answer the telephone and take reservations for special group tours, and provide information and orientation to visitors. * Rove park grounds providing information and informally talk with visitors on-site at the ruins where you will interpret the archeology, flora, and fauna of the Monument. Also, provide site protection and educate visitors on proper site etiquette. *present guided tours *develop and present 20 minute demonstrations *work with small groups of 4th grade students doing a game or craft

The Monument is located in the town of Coolidge, Arizona, in the middle of the state. Groceries, restaurants, and limited shopping are available in Coolidge, or more variety is found in the larger city of Casa Grande only 20 miles further. Volunteer housing is in the form of RV sites, creating a small 6 trailer community within the park grounds. The housing includes use of a washer and dryer in adjacent small utility building. Volunteers must work at least 32 hours each week to qualify for a RV site.
