Position Description:
We are currently seeking an intern to assist us two to three days a week for approximately 10-15 hours a week during the winter and spring. This is an unpaid position. This position is ideal for a college student or a volunteer who has an interest in public relations and marketing and experience or strong interest in working for a museum or non-profit.
Responsibilities:
Research and compile data lists, especially press, social media, websites, blogs, cultural contacts
Manage press clips for specific events and exhibitions
Coordinate, organize and assist in media visits
Aid in drafting content for web postings and bi-monthly e-newsletter
Prepare digital photography for web/media distribution
Attend and represent the Museum at community outreach events
Update online calendars with museum events
Attend museum events and help with event logistics
Answer phones and visitors’ questions
Complete administrative tasks as necessary
Qualifications:
Attention to detail
Must be self-motivated and organized
Ability to work with little supervision
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Proficiency in Excel, Word, knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
