The primary purpose of this position is: This is a developmental position established to provide the employee with assignments that will enable him/her to gain the experience to advance to the position of Command Historian, GS-170-14.
· Administers short, medium and long range plan and policies of the historical program, projecting requirements and priorities, sequencing activities and evaluation standards under the direction of the Office of the Chief of Staff.
· Provides historical research and analysis for the Commander and staff in coordination with the Office of the Chief of Staff.
· Plans, directs, supervises and evaluates collection of key documents to form Command historical archive collection which serves as the Command’s corporate memory for use in applying lessons of past experience to the solution of current problems.
· Assists the Office of the Chief of Staff in managing, directing, and supervising civilian, military and contractor staff of the History Office to ensure effective and efficient operation of history program.
· As representative of the command historical program, maintains and develops close liaison with Director of Joint History, Joint Chiefs of Staff, to ensure policy coordination and compliance and participation in supporting activities as appropriate.
