How to write a proper CV?

I have a resume but have never created a CV. So what I want to know is, is there a PROPER format and can anyone provide me with a good example?

I do not know that there is one format. There are likely going to be many and each will be established by the specific place you are submitting it to. For example, the Arizona State Museum has a format for the CV submitted by those requesting a blanket permit for work in AZ. I doubt that California State Parks uses the same format if they even ask for a CV.
However, I think any CV format would be helpful for organizing your project history in such a way as to make it easy to adapt to other formats.

I dug up a few links on writing a CV. These websites are general in nature and aren't tailored specifically to an archaeology CV, but perhaps there may be some useful info here.

I don't know if there is a standard format for writing cv's, but I always found that it is good to have a few different versions depending on what type of job you go for. If you go for a more specialist role it is a good idea to amend your cv slightly so it highlights those areas specific to that job, if you are applying for a general role then just have a standard cv listing all your skills. :)

I have several versions of my CV depending upon the position. Also, go to some faculty websites and check out how profs have set up theirs.
