EDUCATION
2000-2001: Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. Graduate school working toward an MA in Geography, specializing in GIS with a focus on remote sensing.
1991-1995: Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. Received a BA in Anthropology with a focus on Archaeology and Physical Anthropology.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Supervisory: Supervising archaeological field crews of up to 45 people. Supervising small carpentry crews. Training others in work setting as well as a classroom environment.
Mechanical: Repairing small engines: chain saws, lawn mowers and hydraulic pump engines. Repairing automobiles: rebuilding engines, brakes, exhaust, wiring and changing parts. Reading and interpreting many types of technical drawings such as blue prints, schematics as well as computer-generated reports.
Carpentry: Worked for over 7 years in all aspects of residential carpentry. Performing precise measurement and marking of materials for cutting. Performing precise cutting and shaping of building materials with hand and or power tools. Erecting forms, wood framework, installing sub flooring, sheeting, partitions, floor joists, studding, and rafters. Installing trim, wood paneling, sheet rock, cabinets, windows, doors, hardware, siding, roofing and flooring. Checking accuracy with levels, rulers, plumb bobs, and framing squares and making necessary adjustments.
Tools/equipment used: Forklift, terra mite, end loader, knuckle boom, bobcat, air compressor, jackhammer, reciprocating saw, chainsaw, and welder as well as too many others to fully list.
Archaeological: Designing and building as well as implementing water screening operations. Surveying, site recording, mapping, interpreting maps, doing research, excavating, and doing data collection, processing and interpretation. Navigating through rough terrain in over 20 states, using a compass, maps and aerial photographs. Excavating over 80 historic and prehistoric burials. Supervising crews of up to 45 people.
Administrative: Creating, preparing and reviewing various detailed forms and documents. Detailed cataloging, tracking and organizing very large inventories. Doing records checks at county courthouses and libraries. Preparing written reports and charts on a variety of subject matter
Computer: Using Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Power Point, Arc view GIS and Photo shop. Doing research on the Internet. Using assorted Microsoft and Linux programs
Logistics: Coordinating the activities various interested parties including clients, civil survey, land agents, equipment rental, environmental crews, motel reservations and geo-morphological services.
