This summer marks the 13th annual archaeological field school through Washington University's University College, at the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site near Collinsville, Illinois.  Please join us for our 2012 Field School in archaeology.  This course is not restricted to Washington University students; you are encouraged to register.

Cahokia Mounds is the largest Native American mound center in the United States and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We offer training in surveying and mapping in one three-week session, and training in the excavation of a Mississippian culture site in another.  Any student can register here immediately for either or both. http://ucollege.wustl.edu/summer/registration The courses are:

SESSION 1 MAY 21-JUNE 8: Anthropology 3932: INTRODUCTION TO ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE SURVEYING (3 credits)

SESSION 2 JUNE 11-JUNE 29: Anthropology 393: INTRODUCTION TO ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXCAVATIONS (3 credits).

Summary:

Dates: (1) May 21 - June 8, 2012; (2) June 11 - June 29, 2012
Cost: $2,820.00 per session (3 credits)
Work week: 40 hours, M-F 7:30 to 3:30.
Housing: Not provided.  Students must find housing.  We may be able to offer some assistance at Washington University.
Transportation: Not provided.  Students must bring their own vehicles.
