Volunteers needed to dig for evidence of Fort wall in Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG -- Shippensburg Historical Society needs volunteers to help with the group's third archeological dig to find structural evidence and confirm the location of Fort Morris.
More than 20,000 artifacts, including musket balls and era pottery, were unearthed in a 2009 dig that took place in the backyard of a residence in the borough. Archeologists and members of the historical society believe the East Burd Street location is the spot where the French and Indian War era stockade once stood in the local landscape.
