Field and/or Museum Technician in CA. Travel possible.


I am seeking a part/full time position. I have my B.A. in Anthropology from CSU, Chico. While in college, I interned for the NEIC (North Eastern Information Center) which catalogs and records all historic and prehistoric sites within a given area of California for preservation. 
I have conducted archaeological digs in both England and Antigua. I volunteered at a museum in Cambridge, England as well as held an internship as a museum technician at a National Park in Virginia. 
I am willing to travel outside of California if needed. I look forward to hearing from you.

                        Teacher’s Assistant for Summer Program (Davidson Middle School)

Ø  Supervised a group of 7th graders throughout their daily academic and enrichment courses during a five week summer program. Was responsible for assisting both academic and enrichment teachers in the preparation and delivery of lesson materials. Duties included but not limited to; taking roll daily, keeping track of student progress, creating lesson plans, utilizing classroom management skills, giving 1:1 and group instruction, implementing Bell’s vision and expectations, handling all disciplinary issues, and supervising students during weekly field trips. Worked to make a lasting and positive impact on students, be a role model for at-risk youths, and establish a supportive and fun environment for learning. Training for position involved completion of an online course and a full day of intense training in Oakland.

                        Special Education Teaching Assistant (Santa Rosa High School)

Ø  Serves as an aide to two certified teachers in the supervision, care and instruction of emotionally and educationally handicapped students. Program focused almost entirely on vocational students taking part in various projects such as; Recycling, Student Store, Student Café, Landscaping, and Car Detailing. Works alongside other paraprofessionals in order to maintain supervision of students throughout daily activities. Assists teachers in conducting lessons as well as grading assignments and inputting them into database. Oversees the logistics of any financial profit from various projects and communicates any and all issues regarding student behavior and work ethic.

                        Temporary Data Entry

Ø  Hired as temporary data entry in order to enter backlog from customer order forms (ie.Vaccerts) into new software program. Trained to utilize new software program as well as glean important information from order forms. The new software allowed for employees to easily search for a pet’s description and vaccination history as well as the owner’s contact information simultaneously. Assisted in the training of new employees on the use of the new software and office procedures. Had to be very detail oriented, self motivated, and confident in asking questions when needed.   

2010    Student Conservation Association (SCA)                                          Triangle, VA.

                        Museum Internship at Prince William Forest Park, NPS

Ø  Worked under the supervision of the Cultural Resource Manager. Utilized ICMS (Interior Collection Management System) database to conduct research on archival collections, created tag sets for blueprints, and updated object locations. Worked independently unless being trained on new duties. Conducted research on the historic Washington-Rochambeau route that ran through the park as well as the old mine. Assisted in accessioning new items into collections and ICMS database. Responsible for assisting with Museum Management and overseeing collections. Conducted daily humidity/temperature checks on storage unit as well as monthly pest control assessments.

            Internship at CSU, Chico (90 hrs)  

Ø  Became familiar with the NEIC archives and research techniques relating to historical resource management and preservation. Trained in the review of incoming site records, procedures for assignment of state primary or trinomial numbers, and mapping of archaeological sites on the NEIC resource location base maps. Learned to review, interpret, and glean selected information from newly received historical resource investigation reports that are mapped onto the NEIC base maps, assigned an NEIC bibliographic number, and entered into an electronic and hard copy bibliography.

            2008    Betty’s Hope Archaeological Field School                                           Antigua, WI.

                        Archaeology Intern

Ø  Took part in a month long archaeological field school located on the Island of Antigua in the Caribbean. The Field School was led by Dr. Georgia Fox of CSU, Chico and was acquired through Continuing Education Department. Actively took part in learning all technique of an excavation from setting grid lines to cataloging artifacts as well as learning how to utilize a totals station for taking levels at the site. Was responsible for opening two units (squares) at site along with keeping a detailed notebook of drawings, artifact sketches, and daily activities.


2006    The Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences                                      Cambridge, UK.

            Assistant to Collections Specialist, Paleontology

Ø  Volunteered at The Sedgwick Museum in Cambridge in order to gain experience in Museum work. Worked alongside Collections Specialist in keeping record of fossils in distinct areas of museum. Assisted in light office tasks and museum management. Assigned tasks each day that related greatly with the running and care of the museum. Took inventory of fossils displayed in cases running along center of museum.

2006    York Archaeological Trust (YAT)                                                             York, UK.

            Volunteer Dig Trainee

Ø  Volunteered at an excavation in York, England. The site was rich in archaeological finds such as Viking and Roman material and was located close to the famous York Minster. Trained on all techniques and steps in the excavation of a trench. My duties included but not limited to drawing, recovering, recording, measuring, cleaning and sorting, and reporting developments to Site Director.
