Introduction to Archaeological Illustration presented by Donna Walker

Two hour introductory courses in archaeological illustration highlighting artifacts, historic structures and site features are being offered during the month of February 2013. Sign up for one, two or all three sessions.

Each session will begin at 10:00 am and conclude at noon. An extensive tour of the host venue will be conducted after each session.

A fee of $30 for SDAC, KIIC and Living History members is requested per class. $40 for non-members.

A local artist and San Diegan, Donna has been drawing since the age of eight. She studied art at Palomar College where she earned her degree and a certificate in American Indian Studies.

Donna is a volunteer at the San Diego Archaeological Center where she is an asset in the curatorial and programs department. As a volunteer at Mission Trails Regional Park and Elfin Forest Nature Center, she leads monthly nature walks and presentations of her art.

Ms. Walker is also a contracted artist with the San Diego Archaeological Center. She creates artifact illustrations of stone tools found in San Diego County. Her work appears in professional archaeological reports and presentations.

Her love of history, archaeology, and art has enabled her to combine an expression of historical pen and ink drawings, artifact illustration and portraiture.

Art Instructor will supply:

Paper towels (2-3 sheets)


Participants will supply:

Drawing paper/pad

T-Square and/or bendable ruler

Caliper for measuring artifacts


Ink pens (.005, .020, .025)
