Objective:

 

I am currently looking for an opportunity to work as a field technician, lab technician, or any other experience that lets me further my archaeology career. Work in California would be ideal, however I am willing to temporarily relocate. I have full availability and reliable transportation. I am a hard worker, highly motivated, and I look forward to improving as well as acquiring new skills. After a few more years of field work I plan on attending graduate school.

 - Fremont Valley Preservation Project: 6/2012 – 8/2012, Mojave Desert, CA

            - Two different Phase I linear surveys looking for prehistoric and historic cultural resources.

                - First survey was a 4,800 acre survey of five separate ranches in Kern County.

                - Second survey was 360 mile transmission line survey around California City, Randsburg, and the city of   Mojave.

                - Used maps and hand-held GPS while keeping a daily journal.

                - Filled out archaeological site records.

 

Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation:

Laboratory Technician

 - Rancho San Julian excavation: 08/2011 – 5/2012

                - Analyzed archaeological materials from Rancho San Julian.

                - Duties include: sorting, counting, weighing, and cataloging of artifacts in Microsoft Access database.

Archaeology Educator, Living History weekends & Presidio Pastimes events: 2012

                - Educated local elementary school children and other guests about the Santa Barbara Presidio.

                - Set up a archaeology pit with real Presidio artifacts for guests to excavate.

                - Showed the guests how to sort the artifacts they found and explained there significance.

 

Laboratory Assistant, University of California, Santa Barbara: 09/2010 – 12/2010

                - Duties included the processing of shell midden recovered from Chumash sites off of Santa Cruz Island in the           Channel Islands National Park.

 

Archaeological Field School: 07/2010 - 08/2010

                - Six week course in excavation and laboratory analysis focusing on Spanish period historical remains.

            - Set grid lines, dug test pits, probed, dry screened, water screened, weighed and classified findings.

            - Recognized and documented historic archaeological materials in a field setting including: bone, metal, a   variety of ceramic styles, lithic materials, etc.

                - Kept a daily journal of finds, observations, soil colors, etc., for future reference.
