This position is a 20 week cultural resource planning internship in the National Park Service, Denver Service Center Planning Division. The intern will assist with planning projects for national park units across the system. A core task of the job will be to research and analyze information pertinent to cultural resources to help inform the planning and decision making process. The intern will also assist in preparation of planning and compliance documents that involve diverse and complex cultural resources and associated issues. Likely projects include the Canyon de Chelly National Monument Foundation, the Glacier National Park Foundation and the Knife River Archaeological Resources Management Plan. There will be opportunities to interact with park staff, NPS program and regional staff, and the general public. These interactions will provide for increased professional and public understanding of the planning process and its relationship to the protection and preservation of cultural resources. The internship will also include opportunities to facilitate meetings, present to a variety of audiences on cultural resource topics, and develop communication products associated with planning projects. It is an excellent opportunity to gain applied cultural resource management experience that complements academic training in the cultural resource disciplines.
