CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:  Earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in December of 2013. Participated in the UTSA Maya Archaeology Field School in San Ignacio, Belize from June 14th 2013 to July 11th 2013. This four-week program gave me the opportunity to participate in archaeological investigations of ancient Maya sites in the Mopan Valley of Belize. I learned about surveying, mapping, excavation, recording, artifact analysis, and laboratory techniques through evening lectures and workshops. I then put those techniques into practice each day at the field site and laboratory. I also learned about Maya archaeology, architecture, and art by visiting important archaeological sites in the region on weekend field trips.


EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:

IT Service Desk Representative - April 2008 - July 2011  -  Contractor at USAA - United Services Automobile Association | San Antonio, Texas

Provided technical support for IT and some non-IT related issues for employees of USAA using strong verbal and personal communication skills through phone support, Remote Assistance sessions and Online Chat. Troubleshot computer and phone problems to include applications, hardware, and network connectivity concerns. Determined the source of the issue, and advised on appropriate action to resolve it. Escalated situations requiring urgent attention to the appropriate higher level teams. Proficient in searching, creating and modifying existing resolutions in an internal knowledge database. Extensive knowledge of operating systems like Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7. Applications used on a daily basis included MS Office 2007 and 2010, Internet Explorer 7 and 8, VMWare View Client/Manager, RSA Access Manager, Cisco Any Connect VPN Client and CITRIX Virtual Desktop. Patriot Communications Switch Operator/Maintainer and Supervisor - May 2002 - August 2007  -  U.S. Army

Assigned as a Senior Patriot Communications Operator/Maintainer while serving in the United States Army. Performed maintenance on electronic switches, control centers, combat radios and other equipment associated with networks. Worked with computers to troubleshoot the system when errors occurred. Served as senior team member in the installation, maintenance and operation of the Army's network switches. Served during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) I and II as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) I.  Stationed at FT Bliss, TX, Gwanju, South Korea, and Al Jaber Air Force Base, Kuwait.

 

Contract Computer Technician - December 2001 - April 2002  -  Bits Technical Corp. - Laredo | Laredo, Texas

Build, install, troubleshoot and repair computers and computer related equipment on site and in shop. Provide technical support for software or hardware problems via e-mail, phone or in person. Implement Network drops consisting of CAT-5 cable. Troubleshoot Networks to include servers, clients, routers/hubs, and cables.

 

Computer Repair Technician - June 1999 - January 2000  -  Strategic Computer Solutions Inc. (SCSI) | Laredo, Texas

Install, troubleshoot and repair computers and computer related equipment on site and in shop. Setup internet accounts by adding users to database and configuring Dial-up Networking and internet browsers at customer’s computers at their residence or their workplace. Provide technical support for internet, software or hardware problems via e-mail, phone or in person. Diagnose networks and network related problems and implement solutions.

 

Tutor - August 1998 - June 1999  -  Laredo Community College | Laredo, Texas

Tutor in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department at Laredo Community College. Worked with Lab Coordinators and Lab Assistants maintain operational status of networks. Ensured that PC's were working properly and that the proper software was installed. Assisted instructors in class when needed. Able to assist students on a one-to-one basis or in a group. Perform various office tasks on a daily basis to include copying, faxing, shredding, answering phones, and running errands.

 

Network Switching System Operator/Maintainer - June 1992 - June 1996  -  U.S. Army

Installed, operated, and performed systems maintenance on large and small electronic switches; system control centers; node management facilities; associated multiplexing and combat net radio interface equipment; short range line of sight radio systems; communications security devices; and other equipment associated with network switching operations. Stationed at FT Polk, LA and Shipton Barracks in Ansbach, Germany.
