UK - Penycloddiau Field School

July 19 – August 15, 2015

Website:  http://ifrglobal.org/programs/europe/uk-penycloddiau

From its spectacular hillfort location, this field school aims to provide students with a solid understanding of the full range of practical skills involved in the archaeological process. These include single-context stratigraphic excavation/recording, drawing plans/sections, geophysics and topographic survey, archaeological photography/illustration, finds handling and environmental sampling/processing. At 21 hectares, Penycloddiau hillfort is one of the largest pre-Roman Iron Age sites in the UK, and the biggest hillfort in Wales. The 2015 season will focus on excavation of the hillfort ditch and outer rampart. For more information, visit the field school website.

Connecticut College will award each student 8 semester credit units (12 quarter units). Tuition includes credit units, and room and board.
