JOB SUMMARY:
About the Agency
This position is located in the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, Operations Directorate, Office of Cultural Heritage (OBO/OPS/CH). As the single real property manager for the Department's overseas property, OBO has the responsibility to conserve and maintain diplomatic and consular posts abroad. In that role, OBO seeks to preserve historically and culturally-significant buildings, properties and artifacts in its care. 
The Director of Cultural Heritage will serve as the Director and Administrator of the Cultural Heritage Program, through which the Department preserves and conserves DOS property throughout the world, and ensures the conservation and historical preservation of such facilities and the heritage objects they contain. The position will ensure that the office has sufficient human, financial, and other resources to carry out its activities.

Oversees all activities related to the heritage collection assets; manages the Secretary of State's Register of Culturally Significant Properties; manages the implementation of the Secretary of the Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties; and serves as the principal liaison to The Fund to Conserve U.S. Diplomatic Treasures Abroad. The Fund is an affiliated non-profit organization that supports the State Department's heritage asset preservation efforts through fundraising and other activities.
Develops and directs staff in application of technical standards for preservation and conservation of cultural assets.
Develops strategic plans and objectives, priorities, resource guidelines, budgetary and resource requirements, policies for program operations, and reporting for the Cultural Heritage Program.
Provides advice and guidance to senior level Bureau, Departmental, and other key officials on Program operations.
