Minimum Requirements:    •    Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (archaeology/anthropology).
•    Knowledge and understanding of equipment and technology used to perform recording of archaeological field data. 
•    Knowledge of basic field excavation techniques; knowledge of basic archaeological laboratory techniques. 
•    Extensive manual labor including excavation with shovels, bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 50 lbs. 
•    Must have tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrains in a wide range of weather conditions.
•    Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
Job Description:    URS Baton Rouge is seeking archaeological field technicians for upcoming temporary work in the Florida Panhandle. Fieldwork is expected to start the first week of February and could last up to 10 weeks. The project will include both Phase I cultural resources survey and Phase II National Register evaluation.
An archaeological field technician conducts field or laboratory work with supervision from a field or laboratory director. He or she keeps records and maintains the relevant State Historic Preservation Officer documentation pertaining to archaeological resources. He or she provides regulatory compliance support for Federal, state, municipal and/or commercial clients. 
Primary responsibilities:
•    Performs fieldwork such as test excavation, controlled surface collection, feature excavation, GPS data collection, and artifact recovery. 
•    Performs archaeological documentation such as completing field excavation forms and artifact bag lists, producing field drawings and maps, taking photographs, and recording GPS data. 
•    Provides logistical support to field directors (assembles and maintains equipment, organizes supplies and paperwork, etc.).
•    Performs laboratory work such as artifact washing, artifact labeling, and data entry. 
•    Complies with all URS Safety standards to ensure a safe work environment for all. 
•    Works with technical field, laboratory, and office staff, managers and administrative staff to ensure that projects meet URS quality standards.
