Duties    
Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff/Head of Collections, the Manager will work closely with the Museum’s Registrar’s Office and relevant Curatorial Sections to manage all aspects of the Museum’s upcoming collections inventory, move, and off-site storage projects (ca. 50,000 objects to be relocated to off-site storage for a number of years). Duties include, but are not limited to, planning and coordinating the inventory and movement of the Museum’s collections (both off-site during 2015 and back into the Museum in 2017); assisting in the identification of off-site storage facilities and parameters (including reviewing environmental control and security requirements); supervising the necessary staff (including full-time and part-time collections assistants, work-study students, interns, and volunteers) for the inventory, move, and off-site storage projects; generating inventory and condition reports (including packing, crating, shipping, installation, and insurance documentation); serving as a liaison with vendors (e.g. mount-makers, packers, shippers, and storage companies); and tracking invoices. In addition, the Manager will oversee all Museum staff working at the off-site storage facility and oversee any special collections-related projects as needed. This is a three-year term position, with renewal subject to available funding and Museum needs.
Qualifications    
BA/BS preferrably in anthropology, archaeology, or museum studies required, (M.A. preferred) plus 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Collections management experience, registrarial/loans/traveling exhibitions experience preferred. Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, and written skills, including the ability to prioritize and meet concurrent deadlines. Ability to anticipate and facilitate problems of departmental and institutional coordination and scheduling. Detail oriented, but flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to courier domestic and international loans as well as bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Knowledge of KE EMu collections database is a plus.
