Position Summary Eastern New Mexico University’s Department of Anthropology and Applied Archaeology invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position for a North American archaeologist to begin in August 2015. We seek an archaeologist specializing in the agricultural/ceramic period prehistory of the North American Southwest. The ideal candidate will have methodological expertise in ceramic analysis. Skills in quantitative methods, GIS, and other areas that complement the existing strengths of the department are a plus.
 Requirements:
Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Teach four course sections (12 hour load) each semester 
•    Teach a range of general undergraduate and graduate courses as well as courses within the applicant’s specialty 
•    Provide advising for undergraduate and graduate students 
•    Supervise graduate research and thesis writing 
•    Serve on departmental and university committees 
•    Direct the archaeological field school on a rotating basis with other faculty
•    Develop appropriate scholarly activity commensurate with rank and experience 
Minimum Job Requirements: 
•    Ph.D. in Anthropology; ABD will be considered 
•    Teaching experience is a plus 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
•    Ability to teach coursework in Anthropology 
•    Archaeologist specializing in the agricultural/ceramic period prehistory of the North American Southwest 
•    Ideal candidate will have methodological expertise in ceramic analysis 
•    Skills in quantitative methods, GIS, and other areas that complement the existing strengths of the department are a plus
•    Applicants must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and commitment to excellence in teaching students of diverse backgrounds  
 Working Conditions:

•    Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
