Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation (YMAC) is the Native Title Representative Body for Pilbara, Murchison and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia and provides a range of professional services to the Traditional Owners of these regions. YMAC represents 24 different groups, all with their own culture, language, and traditions. YMAC's representative area covers over 1 million square kilometres. YMAC provides anthropological and archaeological research and heritage service provision on behalf of claimants for the purposes of Native Title and heritage protection and undertakes one of the largest heritage survey programs in Australia.
About the Opportunity
Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation (YMAC) is currently seeking applicants for an exciting opportunity for a Heritage Project Officer based Fulltime or two weeks each month in our Tom Price office (depending on candidates preference)
The primary function of this role is to provide strategic, organisational and anthropological advice and analysis on Research and Heritage matters. 
Your duties will include:
Working closely with Native Title claimant groups and other stakeholders to develop effective relationships with all parties. 
Undertake Heritage Surveys and preparing Heritage Survey Reports.
Identify project opportunities and assist in project development; and 
Provision of advice on heritage issues.
The ideal candidate will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Anthropology or Archaeology (with Honours) or relevant post-graduate qualifications. Ideally you will have significant heritage survey field experience, along with cultural heritage management and relationship management experience. Desirable qualities also include project management, and grant writing.
A sound working knowledge of cultural heritage management theory and practice, strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures and heritage as well as Native Title and Aboriginal Heritage legislation is essential. Additionally, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organisational skills and be able to work cooperatively as a part of a team in diverse settings.
You will also have sound judgement and analytical skills, personal drive and integrity with the ability to manage multiple tasks. The position will require frequent travel.
A current driver’s licence is required
