ARCHAEOLOGY FIELD SCHOOL - Sicily - March-April & July 2015

Join us for our 5th Season at Case Bastione, Villarosa (Enna Province) with in Central Sicily at this fascinating multi-period site, dating from the Late Neolithic to the Early Bronze Age (4000 BC-1600 BC). Finds include some of the oldest metal smelting furnaces known in Sicily, a production area from the Late Copper Age, and Early Bronze Age Huts.

Activities will include, stratigraphic excavation and recording, demonstration of latest technology inc. 3D Laser scanning, ortho-photo methodology and UAV (Drone). Max 12 participants (min. 10 in order to confirm any given session). There will be lectures from local experts and optional weekend visits to nearby UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Villa del Casale, Morgantina, Valle dei Templi). Certificates of attendance can be provided. 

Session 1) 22nd March-4th April 
Session 2) 5th April - 18th April
Fees: €600 - inc. accommodation in shared apartments / food / local transport.

Session 3) 5th July - 18th July 
Session 4) 19th July - 1st August
Fees: €350 - inc. accommodation in local school / food / local transport. 
Please respond by 15th June

NB fees do not include travel to Villarosa, insurance, personal equipment.
