General Responsibilities:
An intermediate technical level requiring production and completion of projects in field of expertise.  Consults with other technical people and supervisor on both routine and unique projects.  Under general supervision, plans and conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection and adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.  Performs as a fully-qualified professional proficient in the use and application of scientific principles, theories, practices and company standards in their discipline.  May devise new approaches to problems encountered.  Some assignments involve application of computer software, including spreadsheets, CAD, as well as computer modeling. 
 
Essential Functions and Duties:
·May serve as team leader in small projects and help train junior level staff.
· May assist more senior scientists/engineers on large, more complex projects.
· Performs work that involves conventional practice but may include a variety of complex features.
· Assists in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluation, plan and permit projects.
· Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection and/or field assignments. 
· May serve as team member or lead in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
· May oversee work performed by lower level scientists but does not typically have supervisory responsibility.  
· Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test, and collect data and/or document on-site activities at various client sites.
· Evaluates field data and assembles in written reports.   
· In accordance with company procedures, approves or prepares reports for relatively complex projects, making appropriate recommendations as necessary on relatively small or large projects.
· Duties will include field work, assessment of impacts to historic properties, development of visual and direct effect reports for submittal to federal and state agencies, assessment of appropriate mitigation measures, regulatory negotiation with federal and state agencies, and development of Environmental Assessments and Memorandums of Agreement in compliance with federal regulations.
· Responsible for developing written proposals to client for both small and large projects, including quality control review of proposals written by others.
 
Education/Experience:
MS degree with at least 5 years of demonstrated consulting experience in history, archaeology or closely related field.
 
License/Registration:
Valid driver’s license (unless arrangements have been made with approval of Division Manager and Corporate).
 
Must meet the requirements per the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines to qualify as a Principal Investigator for Archaeology and/or Historic Preservation.
