This position is located in the Submarine Force Museum, as an official Department of the Navy Museum under the responsibility of the Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC).  The Submarine Force Museum's mission is to select, collect, preserve, and interpret an historical collection that educates an international audience about the history of the United States Submarine Force from inception in 1900 to the present.

·         Assists senior museum staff in the implementation of museum collection activities with a concentration on art, archival and military history collections.
·         Documents progress in meeting preservation and protection standards and reports results in appropriate formats including scope of collections statements, gap analysis reports, and condition reports.
·         Assists in a wide variety of collaborative endeavors related to museum collections including processing of loans, displays, presentations and research.
·         Maintains museum records, implements museum procedures, provides input on curatorial procedures and methodologies and assists other part of staff in proper management of collections.
·         Provides technical assistance to museum staff on archival and museum collection management.
