This internship (sponsored by a scholarship from the park’s Friend’s group) is designed to give interested college students and recent graduates the opportunity to work with professional park staff at Historic Huntley, a restored federal period villa. Historic Huntley is part of Huntley Meadows Park, a 1554 acre wetland preserve. The house, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was built by Thomson F. Mason, grandson of George Mason. The preserve occupies land used by Mason for agriculture. The intern will specifically focus on developing education programs, writing interpretative materials, and presenting programs. In addition, because this internship is funded by Friends of Historic Huntley, participants will learn how volunteer groups can work in concert with government institutions.

Assist with Saturday tours, history camps, and other summer programs.
Qualifications
College students or graduates, preferably with major in education or museum interpretation, history, archaeology or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with experience developing or conducting programs for school or scout groups. Must be 18 years or older by May 2015.
