The Museum of Natural & Cultural History at the University of Oregon conducts cultural resource (primarily archaeological) studies for a number of state agencies.  The museum is seeking to build a pool of qualified adjunct research assistants at various skill levels.  Positions are limited duration, hourly appointments with the possibility of renewal based on need, funding and performance for up to 3 years.  Applicants will be contacted and considered as opportunities become available.
Crew Leader: Master’s degree in archaeology, anthropology or related field required.  Responsibilities include supervising small archaeological field crews in survey and excavation, management of field data, and coordination with multiple landowners and land-managing agencies.  Desired qualifications include familiarity with archaeology and cultural resource management in the Pacific Northwest, experience with CRM polices of state and federal agencies, experience with GIS information management in Arc View, and good writing skills.  Preference will be given to candidates with specialized skills beyond the minimum requirements that contribute significantly to program needs.
Field/Lab Crew: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in archaeology, anthropology or related field, plus archaeology fieldwork experience required.  Responsibilities include archaeological survey and excavation, and the ability to clearly record field observations.  Desired qualifications include familiarity with archaeology and cultural resource management in the Pacific Northwest, experience with CRM policies of state and federal agencies, and good writing skills.  Preference will be given to candidates with specialized skills beyond the minimum requirements that contribute significantly to program needs.
