Role Overview

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently accepting resumes for upcoming work in several southeastern states (including but not limited to Tennessee, Georgia, and Arkansas). These are on-call positions that will report to the Knoxville, Tennessee Office. Travel will be required.  

Key Responsibilities

· Primarily responsible for conducting archaeological fieldwork, including pedestrian survey, shovel test and test unit excavation;

· Fill out forms/site records, and take field notes;

· Take site and artifact photos and maintain photo logs;

· ID artifacts, participate in excavation, monitoring; and

· Data entry. 

Role Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree. in Archaeology or Anthropology or related field and an archaeological field school;

· 0-2 years of field archaeology experience in addition to completion of an archaeological field school in survey and excavation techniques;

· Experience conducting linear Phase I surveys a plus;

· Requires willingness to work outdoors in rough terrain;

· Field excavation experience, including shovel test and test unit excavation, is a plus;

· Strong communication skills and effective writing skills;

· Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently;

· Must pass drug test, fit-for-duty medical exam, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy; and

· A valid U.S. driver’s license. 

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in the archaeology field in Tennessee and/or Arkansas; located in TN or AR preferred;

· Ability to be permitted to work in TN and AR; and

· Prehistoric and historic artifact identification.  

Physical Demands

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more;

· Ability and willingness to work outside under varying and adverse weather conditions; and

· Ability to walk up to 8 miles a day in varying terrain.
