Job Responsibilities:
Golder Associates is looking for an entry to intermediate level permit holding archaeologist to join our team in either our Saskatoon or Winnipeg Office. The successful candidate will plan and conduct Heritage Resource studies for projects requiring regulatory approval in both Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Responsibilities will include archaeological survey, assessment and excavation in addition to conducting laboratory and office-based work such as background research, artifact cataloguing and analysis, site form preparation, report writing and client/government regulator interactions. It is expected that the candidate will be able to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate must be willing to travel, work in remote areas and occasionally spend time away from home for extended periods.
Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
* A minimum requirement of a Master's Degree in archaeology
* Permit-holding capability is required
* Relevant experience in Saskatchewan, Manitoba or Alberta is preferred
* Knowledge of Northern Plains and adjacent boreal forest culture history
* Knowledge of government process and protocol for HRIA and HRIM studies would be an asset
* Strong navigational skills including GPS, compass and map reading
* As this position will entail working in the field it is expected that individuals will be physically fit and capable of working in these conditions
* Experience working closely with First Nations and Métis communities is an asset
* An aptitude for working in a team atmosphere with tight timelines
* Proven oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
* Valid Driver’s license
