Under direct supervision of the deputy state historic preservation director candidate will be responsible for the oversight of the development grant program as it relates to the review of the annual grant applications and funding recommendations to the archives and history commission: monitoring of ongoing work related to awarded projects to insure appropriateness according to the secretary of the interior's standards for rehabilitation through site visits, written and verbal consultation, and file documentation for national park requirements. Oversight of the federal commercial rehabilitation tax credit and state residential rehabilitation tax credit program including the review of draft and final project applications and site visits to confirm adherence to the secretary of the interior's standards for rehabilitation. In conjunction with the sections planning and education coordinator, oversight of the certified local government program including assistance to historic landmark commissions interested in joining the program, technical support to current CLGS including training relating to local design review efforts, and related duties. Oversite of technical assistance program related to the structural assessment of historic building conditions, demonstration of appropriate repairs and related building technological information. Secondary technical assistance toram areas; historic preservation section representative to the capitol building commission; other duties as assigned. A successful criminal background check may be a condition of employment.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training: Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in architectural history, historic preservation or a closely related field. 
Substitution: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in the above fields and two years of full time or equivalent part-time paid experience in historic preservation work such as conducting historic resource surveys, research, preparing National Register nominations, writing, teaching, interpreting history as a historian, or closely related activities may substitute for the Master's degree. 
Experience: Two years of paid full-time or equivalent part time paid employment in historic preservation work such as conducting historic resource surveys, research, preparing National Register nominations, writing, teaching, interpreting history as a historian, or closely related activities.
