Job Responsibilities:
The Ottawa Office (Kingston location) of Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking Licensed Archaeological Staff to join the Archaeology group on a contract basis, within our Environmental/Civil Engineering & Cultural Sciences Group. This exciting opportunity will allow you to develop your technical skills in the field with like-minded professionals in an employee-owned international firm.

Duties will include but are not limited to:
* Carry out archaeological survey, test excavation and mitigative excavation in a Cultural Resources Management setting;
* Conduct archaeological excavation outdoors in all weather conditions in both rural and urban environments; with overnight stays on out-of-town projects (double occupancy) when required;
* Work with and provide support to other members of the archaeology discipline in assisting with other field and laboratory activities as required;
* Undertake material culture/artifact analysis and reporting;
* Supervise an archaeological Field Crew;
* Take a leadership role in a team environment;
* Provide effective direction with and provide support to members of the field technician group in both fieldwork and lab settings as required;
* Provide training to new archaeological field staff and refreshers to existing staff;
* Familiarize yourself with Golder’s Project Management Protocol and technical standards in order to support the project managers in the delivery of consulting services to our clients;
* Participate in Golder’s Health & Safety program and monitor the Health & Safety performance of archaeological field employees;
* Demonstrate a “Safety First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff;
* Maintain a high standard of ethical behaviour to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values; and,
* Perform other duties as required, including but not limited to, artifact analysis, reporting, research and technical services in the field.

Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* Possess an Archaeology, Anthropology or related Degree from a recognized program;
* Valid Professional license to conduct archaeological fieldwork granted by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. Research license to be considered based on demonstrated archaeological field supervision;
* Excellent working knowledge of the Ontario Government’s Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists;
* Demonstrated experience in archaeological fieldwork supervision and the ability to observe and instruct others in good field methodology at a brisk pace;
* Knowledge of Ontario culture history;
* Good written and verbal communications skills;
* Strong organizational skills;
* Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
* Valid driver’s license; and,
* Reliable vehicle for business use would be considered an asset.
