The HR Customer Services and Solutions group is currently accepting applications to fill up to (1) temporary position at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, OH. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow.  Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2015
Hopewell Culture National Historical Park is located 2 miles north of the town of Chillicothe, Ohio on State Highway 104.  Hopewell Culture is 50 miles south of Columbus, Ohio.
The park's location at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains has a moderate climate with seasonal weather. Summers are generally hot and humid with occasional thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures in the summer average between 80 to 90 degrees F. Winters are cold with occasional, moderate accumulations of snow generally less than six inches. Daytime temperatures in the winter average between 30 to 40 degrees F.
Chillicothe (population 22,000) provides K-12 schools, a branch campus of the Ohio University, a regional hospital, and a variety of stores, restaurants, motels, and banks. Columbus provides all modern amenities, collegiate opportunities, and cultural features of a major metropolitan area. Park housing is not available.
 
This announcement is being advertised under delegated examining procedures and is open to all U.S. citizens. 
 
This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.

Incumbent will present informational talks, guided tours and demonstrations utilizing interpretive techniques to various audiences to inform or educate. Provide direction to information on and orientation regarding services or activities of interest to the public. Operates visitor information desk and assists with bookstore sales. Operates a variety of audiovisual and other equipment. Performs various administrative duties.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Standing for long periods of time, walking for distances up to six miles daily, climbing and descending steep inclines, bending, and lifting moderately heavy items in a repetitive motion is required.  Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts, occasional emergency responses, and repetitive nature of interpretive programs.  Extreme physical exertion may be required while performing search and rescue, wildland fire fighting and other emergency response duties. 
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Work is performed indoors at the visitors center as well as in outdoor areas resulting in exposure to extreme temperatures, rain, snow, wind and direct sunlight.
