This announcement is being advertised under delegated examining procedures and is open to all U.S. citizens. This position is located in the Cultural Resources Management Division, Intermountain Regional Office (IMR), duty stationed in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This position is responsible for providing leadership and coordination related to the identification, documentation, evaluation and treatment of cultural landscapes as part of the Cultural Landscape Program for the Intermountain Region which includes sites in Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma.
This permanent full time position is also career-seasonal in nature and does not provide employment on a year-round basis. You may work a minimum of 26 weeks (13 pay periods) but generally not more than 48 weeks (24 pay periods) a year. Actual work schedule and period of non-pay is contingent upon operational needs and/or weather conditions.

Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside of the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation.

This position assists the region and parks in meeting its statutory requirements under Section110 (a) of the National Historic Preservation Act including the identification, documentation, evaluation, and assessments of effect to historic properties, especially cultural landscapes. The incumbent is responsible for providing professional support to 91 park units and supports regional mandates to comply with National Park Service (NPS) legal responsibilities under laws such as the National Historic Preservation Act (1966), as well as NPS Management Policies and Advisory Council on Historic Preservation guidelines.
Lead and participate on interdisciplinary teams responsible for gathering, analyzing, and entering data for cultural landscapes, project research, development of site histories, establishment of resource significance and  projects related to the treatment and preservation maintenance of cultural landscapes including Cultural Landscape Inventories (CLI), Cultural Landscape Reports (CLRs) and landscape preservation maintenance projects and applying analysis and evaluation of integrity, and documentation of existing conditions for NPS properties.
Direct, maintain and is responsible for the Cultural Landscape Inventories (CLIs), and National Register Nominations for historic properties with associated cultural landscape resources in the Intermountain Region, coordination with the List of calssified Structures (LCS) database, as well as management of information being entered into the national CLI databases. Coordinate the completion and certification of landscape documentation entered into the CLI, and ensures that all data entered into the CLI is complete, accurate, and reliable. 
Conduct on-site inspection and assessments of cultural landscapes to evaluate condition, assesses integrity, document existing conditions, and work with park and regional office staff to develop landscape stabilization treatments and preservation maintenance guidance consistent with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, including participation in interdisciplinary effort for the development of planning, and resource management documents.
Use Global Positioning Systems (GPS) equipment and software and graphics design software for editing images and developing graphics.
Attend management and professional conferences for the purpose of exchanging information, presenting technical and policy information, and advancing advocacy for park stewardship.
Prepares or oversees preparation of scopes of work that clearly define the objectives and requirements of the project for A/E design or documentation services.  Examples of such projects include cultural landscapes inventory, cultural landscape reports, existing condition drawings, and design services for treatment work.  Participates in negotiations with A/E firms, including development of detailed cost estimates of major work items.  Designated as Contracting Officer's Authorized Representative during the course of design contacts.  Ensures contractual requirements, including technical adequacy, design excellence, and project schedules are met.
Responsible for or makes significant contributions to the preparation of historic preservation documentation and background materials for clearances, permits, licenses, etc., as required by Section 106 and Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, Archeological Resources Protection Act, National Park Service Management Policies, and cultural landscape resources management guideline, for planning and construction projects that involve cultural resources. Reviews projects initiated by park staff and makes recommendations for approval to park managers.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: The work is sedentary, but at times requires travel to repositories of information, and may require visits to remote sites which require walking or riding over rough, uneven surfaces.  Documentary research and report writing work is sedentary, which entails the ability to concentrate and write for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain and possess a valid driver’s license. Most work is performed in offices, archives, and libraries.  Assignments may entail work with dusty records or objects.
