About the Position:
This position is with the 63rd Regional Support Command, Command Historian, located at Moffett Field, California. Located adjacent to Moffett Federal Airfield, the 63d RSC Bldg is about 3 miles (5 km) north of downtown Mountain View,  California.   The airport is near the south end of San Francisco Bay.   Moffett Field also hosts three university branch campuses: San Jose State University's (SJSU) Metropolitan Technology Center, Carnegie Mellon West, and UC Santa Cruz. These are within the base primarily to support the academic and research collaboration between these three institutions and NASA Ames.  For those who love the outdoors, you will love what the City has to offer. The city enjoys an average of 106 days of clear skies each year. Daytime temperatures are moderate, often in the fifties and sixties in the winter and the seventies and eighties in the summertime. Downtown Mountain View provides a pedestrian-orientated destination point, offering cuisines for every taste preference, as well as specialty shops, bookstores, coffeehouses, and sidewalk cafes.

The duties of this position include:
Directing the History Program for a US Army Reserve Regional Support Command
Conducting independent historical research, to include oral history interviews
Analyzing historical data, evidence, and facts for accuracy and completeness
Presenting historical research results in narratives and manuscripts
Maintaining the command's historical record collection
Providing advice to others regarding historical inquiries and issues
