Fieldschool (3.9. - 29.9. 2016) at Ein el-Jarba, Israel for students on a limited budget


We will be embarking on a third season of excavation at the Early Chalcolithic site of Ein el-Jarba, in the vicinity of Kibbutz Hazorea, Israel and cordially invite you to join us this summer!

Which periods are we excavating?
 ‒ Early Bronze Age I
 ‒ Early Chalcolithic -Wadi Rabah

Who is excavating?

We will be a group ca. 30 people. Consisting of 20 volunteers from abroad, 6 staff members and several volunteers from Israel

Costs: 200 Euro for the entire 4 week season, of which 100 Euro will be paid in advance

What’s the accommodation like?
Basic, but sufficient. We will be accommodated in a kindergarten in Kibbutz Hazorea, sleeping on provided mattresses on the floor. You have to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. The distance of  1.5 km from the accommodation to the site will be walked every morning. We will be eating breakfast in the field, lunch in the cantina of Kibbutz Hazorea, and dinner prepared by ourselves back in the accommodation. We have to clear the rooms every morning and store our belongings in a separate room.

What is the time schedule?

The workweek starts Saturday evening, and ends Thursday afternoon. Friday and Saturday will be free. No accommodation and catering will be provided over the weekend and you will have to make your own arrangements.
The daily schedule will be the common excavation timetable of most projects of fieldwork in the morning, and find processing in the afternoon.
