The position is located in the Vernal, Utah field office.
This is an excepted service, developmental experience appointment expected to last only 1 year under the BLM Pathways Recent Graduates Program. The BLM will require the selected applicant to complete a Participant Agreement in which it shall document the anticipated start and end dates for this developmental appointment.
The agency may noncompetitively convert a Recent Graduate who is a U. S. citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Recent Graduate successfully completes the BLM’s 1 year developmental program and meets the OPM Qualification Standards for the targeted occupational series.

This position serves as a career developmental Archeologist for the Vernal Field Office. The work assignments are developmental in nature and designed to ensure the incumbent receives on-the-job training and exposure to one or more program function. Responsibilities will be assigned consistent with OPM qualification standards, the incumbent's educational background, and the agency's needs. Some major duties include but are not limited to:
·        Develop and maintain the cultural resource information base for the Field Office.
·        Evaluate cultural resources for their use potential.
·        Assess proposed land-use plans and development actions to identify compliance needs.
·        Provide cultural resource input on major, long-range planning documents.
·        Coordinate implementation of cultural resource project (protection) plans.
·        Conduct patrol to monitor site condition and evidence of illegal activity.
·        Recommend goals, objectives, and plans to direct the long-range protection and management of the Field Offices important cultural resources.
