Part-Time GIS Technician - Dallas, TX

Red River Archaeology, LLC (RRA) is seeking a part-time GIS Technician to join the Dallas, Texas, team to support projects for our energy, private, and government clients.  The GIS Technician provides high quality maps, graphics, and other media for field personnel, reports, and proposals.  RRA is a rapidly growing cultural resources management firm which currently consists of four full-time professional archaeologists in addition to several part-time field personnel. 

This position is 20-24 hours per week with the potential for extended hours or full-time employment for the right candidate as company workloads increase.

Requirements for the GIS Technician Position:


At least one year of professional work experience with ESRI ArcGIS

·         Experience creating and editing data layers and geodatabase feature classes

·         Must have understanding of different geographic coordinate systems, projections, and datums

·         Experience georeferencing aerial photography and map imagery

·         Experience with Trimble and Garmin GPS equipment

·         Preference given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology

·         Preference given to candidates with prior experience in the engineering, environmental, or cultural resources industry

·         Experience with additional software a plus (e.g., Microsoft Publisher, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, AutoCad)

·         Ability to read engineering plans/schematics a plus

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills

·         Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet short deadlines

·         Strong attention to detail and accuracy

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
