Padre Associates, Inc. is seeking on-call archaeological field technicians to assist with upcoming projects in the Central Coast and San Joaquin Valley.  Candidates based in the San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, and Ventura areas are particularly desired.  Job responsibilities include archaeological survey, testing, data recovery, laboratory analysis, and/or construction monitoring.  Recordation tasks such as digital photography, sketching, mapping (GPS), note-taking and field form preparation are also required.  The technicians will work under the direction of a Crew Chief and/or Project Manager.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

·         At least a bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field,

·         Completed an accredited field school and/or at least 6 months experience conducting fieldwork in California;

·         Ability to travel and be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather conditions, often in rugged terrain, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds;

·         Positive attitude;

·         Ability to work in both group and individual settings; and,

·         Current 40hr HAZWOPER training is highly desired.

 

These are temporary, hourly positions and the candidate will typically work 40 hours per week depending on workload.  Some projects include overtime hours.  Pay rate will be based on individual qualifications and experience.
