The incumbent serves as the Archives Technician at the Southeast Archeological Center (SEAC), which manages the archeological museum collections for more than 50 park units in the Southeast Region. SEAC manages in excess of 700,000 park archeological project documents (archival collections). The position is supervised by the SEAC Supervisory Museum Curator.
The incumbent accessions, catalogs, and rehouses archeological resource management documents, photographs, and other media. In coordination with the Museum Technician (Archives Term Leader) and under the supervision of the Curator,carries out processing, arrangement and description of archival collections, conducts preservation rehousing and assesses collection condition. Uses the Interior Collections Management System (ICMS) to create Archives Module entries. Prepares finding aids for collections. Conducts routine preventive conservation work in museum storage areas, including environmental monitoring, housekeeping and pest management. Facilitates researcher access.
