Field Archaeologists - Arizona

Harris Environmental is seeking on-call (temporary) field archaeologists for cultural resources survey projects throughout Arizona. We are looking to fill both Field Director and Field Technician positions.

Field Technicians are responsible for assisting the Field Director in identifying and recording cultural resources in the field.

Field Directors are responsible for supervising and directing fieldwork on-site, and making initial evaluations and recommendations for significance, effect, and treatment of resources. Field Directors will work closely with the Project Director and Principal Investigator to ensure that projects are completed safely, effectively, and on time.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A. in anthropology or related field (individuals with significant experience without a degree will also be considered)
  • Ability to work in hot conditions
  • At least 12 months of supervised experience in cultural resource management
  • Competence with basic GPS devices

In addition to the above qualifications, the minimum qualifications for Field Director positions include:

  •  At least 4 months of cultural resources survey experience in the Southwest

Pay is dependent on experience and education.
