Project Archeologist - McKinney, Texas

Integrated Environmental Solutions, LLC. (IES) is a small, woman-owned business based out of McKinney, Texas.  IES is seeking to hire a Project Archeologist to join our consulting firm. 

To be considered the candidate will:

  •           have a valid driver’s license;
  •           hold a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archeology;
  •           have a minimum of two years leading survey and/or excavation projects;
  •        display the ability to develop field methodologies utilizing State of Texas and Section 106 standard archeological procedures;
  •          have proven experience working independently with little supervision;

  •           have a working knowledge of ArcGIS;
  •     display the willingness to work long hours under less than desirable weather, topographic, and environmental settings.

In addition, the ideal candidate would:

  •         hold a Master’s degree that would be able to meet the Secretary of the Interior qualified standards for an archeologist;
  •           have demonstrated office experience related to processing field data;
  •           be listed as an author or contributing author for cultural resources reports;
  •           have proven capabilities using ArcGIS to generate complex maps using a variety of toolsets; and
  •           have basic understanding of laboratory and curation processes.  

The duties of this position require approximately 60 percent fieldwork and 40 percent office related tasks.  Role of the Project Archeologist at IES will include, but not limited to, developing methodologies for cultural resources investigations, conducting and leading field investigations, conducting in-depth background and archival research, preparing agency coordination letters and technical reports, generating ArcGIS based maps and figures, client coordination, and laboratory/curation processing.

This posting is for an hourly based, full-time position with benefits that include 100 percent employer paid employee health care, accrued personal time off, and participation in a SIMPLE IRA plan with employer match.  Base yearly income would be between 40 to 45k, depending upon experience.
