DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Perform cultural resource surveys on Board of Trustees Lands.

Assist PLA supervisor with land management activities.

Conduct research on state-owned sites or collections.

Develop and maintain partnerships with other agencies to enhance management of historic sites.

Act as DHR lead on the Land Management Uniform Accounting Council (LMUAC).

Perform site damage assessments when needed.

Perform special assignments as directed by PLA Supervisor, Bureau Chief and Division Director.

Lead public outreach for BAR by giving public talks and lectures.

Perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree or higher in Anthropology or Archaeology from an accredited college or university and three (3) or more years of experience conducting archaeological surveys in Florida or the Southern Coastal Plain from start to finish--which includes background research, planning, field work and professional reports based on that field work.

Valid drivers' license is required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of Florida's history and prehistoric archaeological cultures.

Thorough awareness of Florida's historic preservation laws.

Ability to use MS Office Suite (word, excel and access).

Highly knowledgeable about mapping programs such as ArcGIS as well as GPS and LiDAR.

Excellent writing skills in order to prepare professional and non-technical reports regarding projects.

Ability to conduct field research in the different environmental settings found throughout Florida.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
