Archaeology Crew Chief/Field Supervisor (NC)

ESI-Raleigh

Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) anticipates having an opening for an Archaeological Crew Chief and/or Field Supervisor to assist or oversee fieldwork on Phase I surveys for projects in central and eastern North Carolina. This temporary work is expected to begin around mid-January and could last up to two months. Hours may vary depending on project-specific workload. Preference is given to applicants living within a one hour radius of Raleigh, NC.  The projects will only pay for drive time to and from the Raleigh, NC office to the project location(s). Any additional travel expenses will be the applicant’s responsibility.

Applicants must demonstrate prior supervisory fieldwork experience (at least two years), particularly at the Phase I level, and possess at a minimum, a B.A. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field.  Applicants should be highly organized, with the ability to keep clear, relevant project notes, field maps, and other field data.  This position will be primarily field-based, necessitating frequent overnight travel; however, this position may also entail some laboratory analysis, research, and report preparation tasks based out of our Raleigh, NC office.  A strong work ethic, good attitude, and the ability to work well with others (as well as independently, if needed) is essential.

The hourly pay rate for the position is based on experience.  Lodging (single occupancy) and per diem for overnight field visits are provided. Because of the temporary nature of this position, benefits are not included; however, the position may have the potential to lead to a full-time permanent position.

ESI is a drug-free workplace; applicants will be subject to a drug screen and criminal background check prior to being hired. Please email a curriculum vitae and a list of three professional references with contact information to:
