Hiring- Archaeology Field Technicians

AECOM is looking for an experienced part-time, temporary field archaeologist to assist in conducting an intensive linear archaeological survey from Dallas to Houston, Texas. The positions will be based out of our Dallas, Texas office, but assigned fieldwork will be located at various locations throughout the 10 counties of Dallas, Ellis, Navarro, Freestone, Limestone, Leon, Madison, Grimes, Waller, and Harris. The project is expected to be conducted within 4-5 months, with the potential for an extension.  GSA rate per diem is included, although the length of the field assignment will be considered on-call as private property parcels become available for survey.  Field assignments may vary between 1 and 10 day cycles.  Travel to and from the Dallas office or the specified project location hotel is not included, and is the responsibility of the applicant. 

The responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
  • Complete standard archaeological field forms
  • Delineate newly discovered archaeological sites
  • Have familiarity with the archaeological survey standards for the State of Texas
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
  • Work independently under the direction of the Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator
  • Complete other duties that may include office and/or lab work associated with cultural resource management
*Minimum Requirements
  • Associate‚Äôs degree in anthropology, archaeology, historical archaeology, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience conducting archaeological survey/field work in the State of Texas or the southwest
  • Archaeological Survey Standards for the State of Texas
  • Familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations for cultural resources and historic preservation
  • Valid driver's license
*Preferred Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S. in anthropology, archaeology, historical archaeology, or a related field preferred
  • Participation in an accredited archaeological field school
  • A minimum of one year of experience in compliance-related archaeological surveys
  • Experience with GIS Trimble Units
