Weller & Associates, Inc. works regionally throughout the Midwest providing cultural resources management services for clients in the private, commercial, and government sectors. A large portion of our business includes linear surveys (both electric transmission and gas pipeline) as well as area surveys. As the company continues to grow, we are seeking to expand our workforce to keep up with the demands of the workload.

Weller is currently seeking an archaeological field technician for our firm based in Columbus, Ohio. This will be a full-time permanent position. The key responsibilities of the successful candidate includes: working as part of a crew on field surveys, assist in the laboratory, equipment and vehicle maintenance, assist with site form preparation, and other duties as assigned.

The candidate should possess a minimum of an B.A./B.S. in Archaeology or Anthropology and have a minimum of one year of experience conducting fieldwork. The candidate must be able to work in a fast paced work environment. Frequent day trips to the field should be expected with occasional hotel stays for projects located outside commuting range. A familiarity with Archaeology of the Ohio Valley region is preferred as most of the company’s work is within Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Experience with Phase I reconnaissance, Phase II National Register Evaluations, and Phase III Data Recovery investigations is preferred. The candidate should have the ability to navigate various types of terrain in either hot or cold weather conditions. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license.

After a probationary period, benefits include employee health, dental, and vision insurance along with a 401(k) pension plan and profit sharing. Pay is regionally competitive and will be commensurate with education and experience.
