This is a seasonal position within the Division of Cultural Resources at Ocmulgee National Monument. The position will perform the full range of basic cultural resource functions pertaining to museum cataloging. The incumbent identifies, labels, and packages artifacts for curation. He/she captures archaeological artifact and project data on catalog records and enters them into automated systems. Further, the incumbent maintains databases, maps, files and also provides general technical archaeological assistance in a variety of areas related to or impacted by the archaeological function, including Section 106 compliance/planning and cultural related special events.   
ADDITIONAL DUTY LOCATION INFORMATION:
Ocmulgee National Monument consisting of 700 acres with an annual visitation of 120k is located in Macon, Georgia. The Macon-Bibb County area consists of a population of over 150k people. Macon is situated in central Georgia is 80 miles south of Atlanta, GA and 120 miles southwest of Augusta, GA. The Georgia mountain and coastal areas are within a 3 hour drive of Macon. Macon has plentiful amenities such as schools, medical services, shopping, dining and recreational activities that you would typically find in metropolitan area. With over six universities and college in the area, Macon has excellent educational opportunities for higher learning. Macon weather is moderate year round with summer highs typically in the 90's with lows in the 70's. Winter highs are in the 60's with lows in the 40's.
