Anthropology Camp Counselors Needed


Did you have experience working with children?  Do you have a background in anthropology/archaeology? The Penn Museum is currently hiring Summer Camp Counselors for Anthropologists in the Making The eight-week day camp (June 27-August 19, 2016) for children ages 7 to 13 will focus on a different topic each week, such as “Magic in the Ancient World” and “Mysterious Civilizations.” Positions are seasonal and contractual. Counselors report to the Summer Camp Director.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and assist small and large groups of campers in a multitude of activities such as gallery tours, art projects, games, sports, scavenger hunts, and performances
  • Foster a fun and positive learning environment by facilitating friendships and teamwork among campers and acting as a mentor

Position Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm and experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
  • Competence in teaching, counseling, and administrative work
  • Patience, creativity, enthusiasm, initiative, and flexibility a must
  • Ability to engage in physical sports and games
  • Applicants with the following valid clearances will receive priority:  PA child abuse historyPA criminal record, and FBI criminal history
  • Must be available to work June 20-Aug. 19, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week (June 20-24 is an orientation week with reduced hours)

Hiring Process:  Interviews will be conducted February-April.  Hiring decisions will be made by May 15.  Position pays $13/hour
