On-Call, Temporary Archaeologists throughout California

Material Culture Consulting is a certified DBE/SBE/WBE providing cultural resources compliance services. We are currently seeking qualified temporary archaeologists to respond to on-call task orders throughout California. Work hours will vary based on available projects, employee availability, and employee skill set, expertise, and experience. Responsibilities include performing cultural resources monitoring at construction sites, and archaeological field surveys. You will be responsible for recording data for scientific and compliance purposes using company forms and established field methodology, Work will occasionally include travel and overnight stays. 

Required Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic archaeology, or a related field
•    Minimum of two years of professional experience as a field archaeologist
Minimum of two years of construction monitoring experience
•    Field experience or completed field school focused on archaeology of Southern California
•    Valid driver’s license, good driving record, reliable vehicle
Experience using GPS equipment (Garmin/Trimble) for field data collection
•    Computer literate
•    Articulate verbal and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Valid HAZWOPER 40HR Certificate 
•    Experience in the environmental consulting industry, preferably in Southern California
Cross-training and two years of experience in paleontology
Field experience or completed field school focused on paleontology of Southern California
•    Professional GIS certification and/or two years’ experience working with ESRI GIS software
•    Technical writing expertise for archaeological and/or paleontological resource management reports and monitoring reports
Experience working on public utility projects and programs.
