Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking a part-time Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist within Denver Operations. This part-time candidate will support Denver Operations with GIS analysis, geospatial data processing, and figure/map generation for energy clientele (wind, solar, electric transmission, natural gas). 

Candidates must be self-motivated, creative, have strong inter-personal communication, writing, and presentation skills, and be able to function independently. This candidate will exhibit organizational skills, the ability to manage time-critical data deliverables, and strong ability to work in team situations


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Import, export, collect, and correct Trimble, ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Collector, and ArcPad 10x GPS data  
Knowledge and skill set to edit and manage data in TerraSync, ArcPad, and/or ArcGIS Collector in the field
Candidates must be proficient with basic editing tools in ArcGIS
Create maps using GIS software or similar applications
Navigate with field crews, sometimes for a week or more, in various terrain and weather conditions using a Trimble GPS unit or ArcGIS Collector Application on phone or tablet
Meet with users to understand, define and executed data needs, project requirements, and required outputs
Research and compile geographic data from a variety of sources including State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), National Park Service (NPS), censuses, field observation, other governmental agencies, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, existing maps
Prepare metadata and other documentation
Move, copy, delete, and add files, drawings, and maps to output reports in hard copy or electronic transfer
Create maps and graphs, using GIS software and related equipment

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a focus in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Geography, Statistics or a related field of similar scientific discipline. 
Experience with Anthropology and/or Archaeology is a plus
1-3 years of applicable experience
Knowledge and/or experience in ArcGIS 10.x, ArcPad 10.x, Trimble GPS units, GPS Pathfinder Office, ArcGIS Online for Organizations, ArcGIS Collector Application
Knowledge and experience in ArcGIS extensions: Spatial Analyst and ArcPad 10x
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
Candidates with experience in the energy sector (electric transmission, renewables, oil and gas linear) given top consideration 
Certification in GIS is a plus
