About the Role

AECOM currently has an opportunity for a Senior Historical Archaeologist in our Sydney based heritage team.

AECOM has a multidisciplinary team of dedicated heritage specialists located across Australia with experience in both Aboriginal and historical archaeology. Our team of heritage specialists offer clients expertise in heritage assessments, impact assessments and permitting, excavation and community consultation.

We are seeking a motivated professional with a strong client focus, excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver technical excellence to join our Sydney heritage team. Key responsibilities would include:

Undertaking historical heritage assessments, preparing statements of heritage impact, research designs and conservation management plans
Undertaking archaeological survey and excavation
Conducting field activities independently, within a team, and in remote areas
Preparing permit applications (e.g., Section 57/60/140 applications)
Providing specialist technical advice on heritage management to clients
Liaise and develop positive relationships with clients and other stakeholders.

Key requirements for the role include:

Appropriate tertiary qualifications in archaeology or similar field
Minimum 3 years' experience in historical archaeology
Experience as an excavation director
Demonstrated experience obtaining permits under the NSW Heritage Act
Excellent writing and communication skills
Demonstrated time management and organisation skills
Current C class drivers licence
