Golder Associates Inc. is currently seeking a Staff Cultural Resource Scientist for the Green Bay or Pewaukee, Wisconsin location. Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Conducting pedestrian survey and site documentation (walk up to 12 miles/day), which includes site descriptions, photographs, mapping, feature and artifact identification, and analyses;
* Performing and describing shovel test (STs);
* Conducting archaeological surveys and testing;
* Using GPS units;
* Communication and consultation with tribal and regulatory agency personnel;
* Conducting and supporting cultural resource assessment projects within urban and remote environments;
* Working with project staff in multiple offices to achieve project goals in a timely and efficient manner within Golder standards; and
* Reporting, data management, quality control/quality assurance, and client communication.
 
Job Requirements:
The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
* BA/BS degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, or related field;
* Should have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks;
* Completed an accredited archaeological field school or equivalent;
* Minimum 3 years of experience working on cultural resource assessments in support of regulatory reviews and permitting;
* Strong understanding of federal and state regulatory processes (e.g., NEPA, Section 106) and environmental laws, rules, and permitting processes;
* Minimum 1 year of experience with tribal representatives and regulatory agency personnel to address tribal and other cultural resource issues;
* Familiarity with both prehistoric (Native American) and historic archaeological sites and artifacts;
* Strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to prepare cultural resources reports;
* Ability to travel (locally and out of state when required) up to 50% of work week and conduct work as dictated by project demands;
* Capacity to work outdoors in all kinds of weather, physical stamina to conduct archaeological field surveys in remote and challenging settings, ability to carry equipment (shovel and screen, GPS unit, camera, backpack, water) while conducting fieldwork, must be able to read and comprehend maps, and capable to prepare field records and drawings;
* The candidate must work well with other disciplines in a team environment, and be able to negotiate multiple concurrent projects;
* Must be eligible for employment in the U.S. and pass a pre-employment physical including drug screen and pre-employment background check; and,
* Relocation compensation is not available for this position.
