Temporary staff, survey in western AZ

Terracon is currently seeking temporary staff for a survey in western Arizona. The tentative schedule is one 4-day session and one 8-day session in late-July to early-to-mid August. Single-occupancy lodging and per diem will be provided during sessions, but not between. Duties will or may include:
  • Pedestrian survey and site recordation in a sandy, extremely hot desert environment.
  • Using Trimble GPS units.
  • Using digital cameras.
  • Recording information on Arizona State Museum site cards and on other logs.
The preferred candidates will:
  • Be able to demonstrate survey experience in the southern Arizona or California deserts during summertime.
  • Have a BA/BS in anthropology, archaeology, history, or related field.
  • Be able to identify prehistoric and historic-period artifacts and features.
  • Be able to work well as part of a team and to maintain a good attitude in potentially difficult conditions.
  • Be able to carry equipment and water while surveying, which will include many miles each day.
  • Adhere to a non-disclosure agreement

Employment is contingent upon meeting the following requirements:
  • Successfully passing a drug screen
  • Meeting the driver qualifications criteria as stated in the Terracon job application and
  • Successfully passing a background check
