Heritage Consultant - Aboriginal and/or Historic Heritage Archaeologist
You will have experience in Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Management. Experience in Historic Heritage Management experience would be an advantage. You will possess an excellent understanding of archaeological survey methodologies and field site recording.  You would also have experience in undertaking heritage significance assessments, report preparation and Aboriginal community consultation.
The successful applicant will require excellent written and oral communications skills and be capable of working on projects from proposal stage to project initiation and through to completion with limited supervision or as part of a team. They will need to be familiar with relevant NSW, ACT and Commonwealth heritage legislation (NSW National Parks and Wildlife Act, NSW Heritage Act, ACT Heritage Act, Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act).
The location is negotiable, with options to be located in Sydney, Newcastle or Canberra.
Essential criteria
Tertiary qualifications in Archaeology / Cultural Heritage or similar. 
At least 5 years' experience as an archaeologist or a consultant archaeologist. 
Excavation experience.
Experience in report preparation including research, field site recording, significance assessment, development of management recommendations.
Knowledge and experience in the application of the NSW Government Heritage Legislation including the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage Guidelines and Codes of Practice and other relevant NSW, ACT and Commonwealth heritage legislation and procedures.
Excellent communication skills, including proposal and report writing, verbal communication, stakeholder management and the ability to effectively consult with Aboriginal and/or non Aboriginal community.
Ability to work independently to effectively implement project management required to deliver projects on time and on budget. 
Experience in Microsoft Office computer programs and industry specific programs including ARCGIS.
A current Australian Driver's License (manual license) and ability to drive for long distances.
Being able and prepared to undertake field work and have the ability to work alone and in remote locations.
Knowledge of WHS obligations and responsibilities relevant to the role.
Desirable criteria
Historic heritage experience / qualifications
Aboriginal heritage Postgraduate qualifications.
First Aid Certificate
4WD training.
