Job Description Summary    
Collect and enter data for USFWS archaeology site files. Access and process existing museum properties in the USFWS system, data entry and management of electronic museum properties collections records, photograph collections. Assist USFWS archaeology program as needed. Limited travel may be required.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities    
Required Knowledge, Skills and abilities    
Familiarity with archaeology site files, site reports, and data record systems. Familiarity with Public Land Survey System and UTM grid system. Familiarity with National Park Service cataloging protocol and/or Minnesota Historical Society collections management system. Familiarity with North American archaeology/Midwest archaeology, and ability to identify lithic tool types, pottery types, and other pre-contact and historic artifact types. Familiarity with artifact photography. Familiarity with basic data entry and electronic records management. Must be meticulous.
You will primarily work at the USFWS office in Bloomington, but be an employee of Hamline University. You’ll also potentially work in the HU archaeology lab. You must follow all protocols and requirements of the Hamline University Archaeology Lab and Hamline University. You will also need to successfully pass an FBI background check. Professor Brian Hoffman will be the employee supervisor. Employee will work under the direction of James Myster, USFWS archaeologist.
Minimum Education/Experience    
BA or BS degree
Anthropology major, or related field
Preferred Education/Experience    
Completion of Archaeology Field School or Laboratory Techniques in Archaeology (prefer both) or equivalent courses.
Required Licensure/Certification/Registration
